折り返し地点にあたり、本年も東西金杯からスタートする。
2歳～3歳時にG1含む全グレード設定がある中山2,000Mで唯一の古馬グレード戦にあたる中山金杯。
京都金杯とともに冬季開催番組の出走頭数制限解除にて今回のフルゲートが
中山金杯 16頭→17頭
京都金杯 16頭→18頭
となる。
当たり前のことながら、ともに3頭枠が生成される事になり、(馬券対象になるという意味でなく)この枠には注目せざるをえない。
